United States Military Academy at West Point, New York
United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland
United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colorado
United States Coast Guard Academy at New London, Connecticut
The U.S. Embassy is accepting applications for the U.S. military academies' academic year 2009. Candidates who are selected to attend will travel to the United States of America in the summer of 2009 and will join other students from around the world as they embark on a four year academic program.
Cadets and Midshipmen must be in top physical condition and prepared for a challenging academic environment. Moral and ethical development is a fundamental element of all aspects of the Academy experience. Bachelors of Science and Arts degrees are offered in a variety of disciplines including math, engineering, business, and government.
Requirements for the applicants:
Age: 17-23
Marital status: single
Completed high school
English proficiency, proved by TOEFL
High SAT or ACT scores
Excellent health and physical readiness
If you desire to be considered for entry to one of the United States of America's most prestigious academic institutions, please send your name, contact information, and a one page statement of purpose to BakuEducation@state.gov by December 1, 2008. Your statement of purpose should indicate why you desire to attend one of the academies and your personal and education goals. Qualified applicants will be interviewed by Military Officers at the U.S. Embassy.
Applicants must be registered to take the SAT (www.collegeboard.com) or ACT (www.actstudent.org), as well as TOEFL (www.ets.org) before the 1 December deadline.
U.S. Embassy representatives will hold information sessions about the military academies on 7 and 14 November at the American Center, located at the University of Languages. Interested students, however, should work hard to complete their TOEFL and SAT exams as early as possible.
