On February 18th AAA will host a seminar session within Guest Speaker series. Speaker Farid Gardashbayov will talk on topic of "Essentials of Financial reporting standards and ratios for decision making. IFRS vs. U.S. GAAP"
Presentation lasts an hour and goes through the essential points of international financial reporting. A knowledge acquired is for learners solely and is not expected to cover explicit details and deep analysis. The presentation covers the following topics:

3. Understanding the Income Statement:

c. Components of Equity. Statement of changes in Shareholders’ Equity.
5. Understanding the Cash flow Statement:
a. Direct and Indirect Cash flow formats.
b. Cash flow Statement Analysis.
c. A Summary of differences between IFRS and U.S. GAAP.
6. Inventory accounting methods under IFRS and U.S. GAAP:
a. FIFO method.
b. LIFO method. A LIFO reserve.
c. A Weighted Average Cost Method.
7. Financial Analysis Techniques. Common Ratios used in Financial Analysis.
a. Activity Ratios.
b. Liquidity Ratios.
c. Solvency Ratios.
d. Profitability Ratios.
e. DuPont Analysis.
The event language will be Azerbaijani.

Bio for Farid Gardashbayov
Farid Gardashbayov got his Master's degree in Public Administration from Indiana University at Bloomington concentrating in Public Financial Administration, Economic Development, and Policy Analysis. Starting from 2003 he worked in local NGO, UNDP project, interned at United Nations Headquarters in New York City, and currently is working for BP-Azerbaijan as a Business Analyst. Farid is the co-author of two books on local financial planning and development and more than twenty articles on financial issues in Azerbaijan and the world. Has an experience of making topic and case specific presentations in more than ten countries. Current interest areas are: local financial modeling, equity and fixed income assets management, strategic investment analysis, econometric analysis of relationships, etc. Personal interests include numismatics and taking actions on saving trees around the world.
