2010 Business Case Competition Finals
On May 23, 2010 the US Educated Azerbaijani Alumni Association organized the final round of the Azerbaijan Business Case Competition. The event took place at Park Inn Hotel in Baku.

Azerbaijan Business Case Competition is an annual competition, where teams from major universities of Azerbaijan work under pressure to solve real-life business problems using their knowledge in various business disciplines, including finance, marketing, accounting, technology and management, and present their solutions to a panel of judges representing major businesses in Azerbaijan. The history of ABCC goes back to 2002. Motivated by the lack of business case analysis practice in Azerbaijan, MBA Enterprise Corps Volunteers spearheaded this project in Azerbaijan. AAA was given an exclusive right to hold and organize the ABCC since 2006. In the past, around 300 qualified students have participated in the ABCC. Today, the past participants of ABCC hold leadership positions in many businesses and organizations in Azerbaijan.

The ABCC provides a safe environment for the development of the students’ business analysis and presentation skills; develop career enhancing credentials and prepare the students to be future business leaders in Azerbaijan. The competition also provides representatives of businesses, academia, and students an opportunity to interact in a fun and intellectually challenging forum. 23 teams representing Azerbaijan State Economics University, Qafqaz University, Baku State University, The Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan State Oil Academy and Azerbaijan Tourism Institute participated in the initial stage of the competition. 11 teams, each comprised of 4 members, have made it to the final stage of the competition.

All the students went through 4 weeks of training and instruction in business case analysis, strategy development and presentation of recommendations. In addition, teams made a practice round presentations prior to the final competition. According to the rules of the competition, all teams will present their solutions to judges representing major local and international businesses at the semi-final stage. Three best teams represent their final case presentation to the panel of judges comprised of senior managers.

This year’s competition is made possible by generous support from Azerfon, CEU Business School-Baku Mini MBA Program and American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan.
